about

Blink Once for Yes, Twice for No is the second single from downtempo, Meanjin/Brisbane-based YEARNS. Their self-titled EP is out 10 July '22 on False Peak Records and continues their gentle sonic explorations that saw their debut EP included on 4ZzZ Rusted Satellites’ top 10 release of 2021.

It’s the first time the duo have included vocals. Joel (Spirit Bunny, A Country Practice) describes how “the track was more or less finished, titled and everything when I thought it’d be interesting to add a vocal part. I was really interested in the non-verbal communication that happens between couples, particularly in the early morning. Like in Bjork’s Hyperballad, but less dramatic and even more domestic”.

YEARNS is a duo of Joel and Andrew Foley of An Heirloom and Grids/Units/Planes. Outside of YEARNS they have separately appeared on releases on Room 40 and hellosquare Records, collaborating with artists including Erik Griswold (Clocked Out), Andrew Tuttle and Shoeb Ahmad; have had their music featured on ABC TV (The Heights) and played on radio across Australia and abroad.

The EP Yearns is out July 2022. A limited edition visual edition of the EP will be available with a tessellated stereogram image ('magic eye') for each track.
